We had an early breakfast after a decent night's sleep and left Indaba
at 8.
Today consisted mainly of coach travel through the Highvelt and the Panorama
Route to the Kruger National Park but we were comfortable and had several stops
and also enjoyed listening to our excellent local guide, Mike, who was really
interesting but never overloaded us with information.
Our lunch stop was at Dullstroom renowned for its trout fishing and its railway
station - the highest in South Africa - although we didn't see it.
The afternoon stop was at Blyde River Canyon with its spectacular gorge and the
Rondabells. We saw a couple of baboons but were advised to keep well away.
We arrived at Hippo Hollow Hotel and checked into our room and had a quick
pitstop before dinner which was another excellent buffet.
We are a group of 27 and are now complete. Our final passenger arrived early
this evening having missed the first couple of days because of the AC problems
in the UK. He was brought by taxi on the 5 hour journey from
Johannesburg. Another two passengers, Roger and Elizabeth, were meant to
get a shuttle from Manchester but the plane never took off so they took a taxi
to Heathrow, costing over £500, but they did make it on time. Fortunately
Riviera have agreed to pay.
