Day 2: Arrival in Johannesburg and the Apartheid Museum

Our first day in South Africa will see us at the Apartheid Museum before checking in to our hotel, the Indaba Hotel.

We both managed some sleep on the plane. We weren't worried about arriving late as our tour guide, Sylvia, was on our plane.

Johannesburg airport was really lovely and we were soon through passport control etc and met with our group and our South African guide, Michael. We started with a visit to the Apartheid Museum where, unfortunately, we could not take photographs.

Next was the 30 minute drive to our hotel, the Indaba. After our welcome drink we headed to our room for a much needed chill out. The room was huge with 2 enormous beds and a cute little elephant towel to welcome us.

G was thrilled to find he had a huge desk and enough sockets to plug in all of his techy stuff.

And the third test England v Pakistan was on the TV in the hotel lounge

After a bit of chill time in the room, we headed to the bar for pre-dinner drinks. Drinks seem to be very cheap here - £7.50 for a generous glass of Merlot and a delicious G and T!

Dinner was in the main restaurant. It was an all you can eat buffet where you could choose your meat and they cooked it for you. There were meats we've never had before - impala, ostrich etc - all beautifully tender.

Day 5 Overnight at Buffalo Rock
