Day 6: Heading to Kwazulu Natal (includes first part of our battlefields day which should be on a new post. Will take too long to do all those parts on a new page, so will leave them for on here for now and carry on on the new page.)

We were surprisingly chirpy when the alarm went off at 4.30 and were guided to breakfast.  We were told that a hyena had wandered through the camp last night and also that an elephant had once been seen drinking our of the plunge pool. We saw neither. 

After breakfast we were taken back to Hippo Hollow for a very welcome shower and change of clothes.  Then it was on the coach for the long journey to the battlefields.

We had a couple of stops - mid morning at a service area where we had a delicious hot chocolate and took advantage of their excellent facilities.  Lunch stop was at a shopping mall where we found Cadbury's chocolate (we're hoping it's the old recipe and not the vile one we now have in the UK) and had an enormous cheese muffin and hot drink as our lunch. 

Then we were on the road again.  We had a change of hotel tonight. The hotel had some issues - guests unable to get their keys to work, cold water, credit cards not working including Graeme's. The laptop also refused to come on but thanks to long distance advice from Deaves IT services G got it working - hurrah!

We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks with the group. Drinks are so cheap here. Dinner was the usual buffet and then it was bed as another early start awaits us tomorrow!

Buffalo River. Now entering the Kingdom of Zululand.

The church at Isandwahla. Near here waa fought the Battle of Isandwahla, the second of three battles in the Anglo-Zulu War of the late 1870s. This battle was a crushing defeat for the British.
